ALICE Active Shooter Response Training: Developing Emergency Operations Procedures for Your Office
Event Date: 05/24/2016 02:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time
Synopsis

Gary Kamp will present an overview of the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate)
Program for implementing appropriate and federally recommended proactive response strategies in the
event of an active shooter on your work premises. It is vital to have an emergency response plan for
businesses so that employees are not at risk in the event of an active shooter situation due to lack of
knowledge and preparation.

To mitigate risk, employers should take precautions to ensure that every employee is safe. Employers
should also adopt practices that teach employees how to react should a violent situation arise. Ultimately,
these measures can help protect the company from lawsuits that often follow workplace violence – while
significantly improving employee safety.

Gary Kamp will be discussing these measures. In addition, he will speak to the various aspects of inclusion
of this best practice and nationally renowned approach into your existing Emergency Operations
Procedures. The ALICE Program is the first civilian response training program for active shooter response
and has since been supported by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security,
Department of Justice, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the U.S. Department of
Education. The ALICE program is common sense practices designed to increase your chances of survival;
unfortunately, however, it is not always common knowledge.

The webinar will focus on the unique challenges faced by eye doctor facilities where you also have patient
care in mind when developing safety protocols. The webinar will last one and a half hours and also will
include a Q&A session at the end.
